2019 Summer Intern Spotlight, Part 2

In Part II of our Summer Intern Spotlight series, we’d like to highlight two interns who have made an impact on our team throughout this summer, and who are extending their internships with Pocket Nurse.
Heather Auman
Heather earned her Associates Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Management, from Pittsburgh Technical College (PTC) in July 2019. She will be returning to pursue her Bachelors Degree.
Throughout her college career, she has worked as a Resident Assistant for the on-campus dorms at PTC. She credits this job as the reason for her exceptional confidentiality, critical thinking, recruiting, and communication skills. At her previous internship with PeopleShare, she worked directly with job candidates and managed the front desk. In addition, Heather’s father owns his own small business, which, from a young age, inspired her interest in the inner workings and mechanics of how a business is run.
Of her internship experience with Pocket Nurse so far, Heather says, “I am honored to be an asset at this company and have the ability to contribute to making sure everything runs smoothly by ‘using my best judgment every day.’”
Heather loves to volunteer, and at school she volunteers with the Bizthreads program, an organization that allows business professionals to donate lightly used business clothing, which is then sold to students for about $1 each. Outside of school and work, Heather enjoys spending time outside, hiking and camping, as well as spending time with her family, friends, and cats.
Lucas Sallada
Lucas returned to Pocket Nurse in Summer 2019 after interning with us Summer 2018 – you can read his Intern Spotlight from last year here. Lucas graduated from his Computer Science program at Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) in May of 2019. He will be pursuing his Bachelors Degree in 2020.
Since his internship last year, he has been studying new web technologies through online courses. Currently, he is learning and networking within the React community, which is a JavaScript library developed by the engineers at Facebook. “Being part of a growing community is really interesting,” Lucas says.
Of his 2019 internship, Lucas says, “I’m hoping by the end of this internship to have more projects that I can call mine, adding more experience under my belt, and a better curriculum vitae as well.”
If you are considering participating in a future internship with Pocket Nurse, we look for motivated students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program at an accredited college with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Undergraduates must be entering their junior or senior year at the time of the internship. The intern positions we hire for vary based on business needs in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Accounting, IT, HR, Supply Chain and Purchasing.
